Cologne 🇩🇪

First UEFA2024 EURO match day for Cologne. Switzerland vs Hungary with Switzerland having a convincing win 3-1.

It was a long, fun and fabulous day to be a part of. Our VIP team worked together to deliver a great experience for our guests. We had 180 to look after today and there is so much involved behind the scenes.

I was assigned to a carpark coordinating the arrivals of VIP busses from hotels in Cologne and Dusseldorf. Meet and greet and deliver to the VIP ticketing plus notifying the underground high level VIP meet team when police escort cars were to head down the ramp. We had the Hungarian Prime Minister attend .

Once the match started, we went up to the VIP office to have a late lunch while watching the game discretely through the blinds.

Then back down to the carpark coordinating guests to the correct busses, including the UEFA exec committee travelling to another city to watch the next game, and cars to the airport for private jets.  

Loved using the walkie talkies all day.

So, not the most glamorous position, but a valued spot and it meant I got to see lots of fans and regular attendees go past, the team busses too. Happy to be part of putting on this tournament.

The next game in Cologne is next Wednesday and so I'm planning a short cycle tour for a few days before returning to volunteer again 😊
