Corniglia - Vernazza - Monterossa 🇮🇹

 Cinque Terre hiking -  13.5kms

After original forecasts of rain, we decided to give it a try for a hike anyway.

This area has a train service between the 5 villages and so we caught the train to Corniglia where we finished our hike yesterday and continued our journey.

This really is a paradise, but a very hilly one! Lots of stunning scenery today with stone wall terraces built in 1100's with olive and lemon groves, vineyards and vege gardens high in the hills.

We came across some farmers high in the hills whipper snipping and preparing vege beds and they had set up a little stall selling his oranges for 1 euro and some strawberries

He had lovely music playing, some chairs and tables and logs to sit at and I don't think anyone passed without buying from him.

The trails were busy today with busloads of French, British and some school groups out hiking.

We had a picnic with ocean views 😊

The final descent into Monterossa involves many very steep rough steps  and although it was difficult, the faces on those.coming up confirmed we had probably chosen the better direction for that part!

Monterosa has a totally different feel as, when you get there, the village is fairly flat and has a long wide beach.  We grabbed some snacks and went to the waters edge to relax for an hour.  The water was fresh and cold 😊

A fantastic day but feeling fatigued tonight after a couple of big days on the hills 😊
