Seville - Ronda 🇪🇸

An early start and a chance to wander empty streets of Seville on the way to the train station.
Two trains later and we arrived into Ronda.

This is one of the oldest towns in Spain, settled first in 6th century BC! It is situated in a National park high on cliff tops with a huge gorge seperating the town and a series of 3 bridges built in the 1700's that are an Engineering masterpiece.

Today it was cyclonic weather with fierce winds and pelting rain.  It was so wild that all any of us die hard tourists could do was laugh as umbrellas turned inside out, ponchos flying everywhere and everyone freezing cold and wet.  The weather came in waves and everyone just seemed to soldier on.  Due to the weather, the Easter parades cancelled,  nearly all the lookouts were closed and the fabulous step walk that we had planned to do down 200 steps to the bottom of the canyon was closed.  Most of the parks were also closed as ancient trees were bending dangerously!

The weather aside, this is a wonderful town to explore.  The balconys have flowerpots and lots of little cafes and restaurants that normally would have outdoor seating.

We went to a vantage point to see the largest bridge and found that they were letting people down some of the steps near the bridge and so down we went, holding firmly to the handrails.  Fabulous views to the canyon and the green fields and mountains.  Occasionally the sun came out for 10 mins 😊.

We walked the streets of the old town, stopping to look at a preserved cliff side mansion museum with gardens on the cliffside.  A few of us waited inside for a break in the weather and then snapped a few photos.

Then a walk of the city walls before finding a cafe for "Churros con Chocolate" for afternoon tea ❤️ with hilarious views of people.rounding the corner of the building and the wind gusts causing havoc 😂

Back to our beautiful apartment with views of the city for home made pasta and trying to dry all our clothes and shoes.

A fun day in the Spanish mountains!

I have started my 3rd travel map with this trip to Spain -
