Seville 🇪🇸

A sunny but cool and breezy day today in beautiful Seville.  We had a bit of a later start and headed straight to our Cooking school.

We started with a tour of the Mercado de Triana - the 200year old food markets that are housed in the former castle which is currently being excavated and restored.

We learned about the different meat specialties of the area, the sheep and goat cheeses, the local paprika and saffron.
Then a walk via the Spanish Inquisition tunnel to the waterside and along to the kitchen.

The chef and assistant ran a well organised, friendly and informative cooking class for our group of 12.
First we made gazpacho,

then a spinach and chickpea meal

that is eaten during Holy week, a Valencia influenced paella with chicken, artichoke and green beans,

and finished with a citrus sorbet.

The chef passed on lots of techniques and we shared the delicious meal afterwards with sangria and a Spanish beer.

Then out into the sunshine to wander the colourful bustling streets of the Triana district.

Then along the riverside and over the bridge to Parc der Maria Luisa

and Plaza de Espana.

We wanted to try and see the Cathedral and so headed there but found ourselves caught up in an Easter procession and it took 1.5hrs to find a way around it via back streets to get to our hostel.

So many people walking around trying to get past all the road blockages.
We made a simple salad for dinner.

A relaxing day even though we walked 23000+ steps.  (Each day of our trip has been more than 20,000 steps).
