Ronda to Granada 🇪🇸

A fabulous but huge day 😊

We caught two trains and arrived into Granada mid morning.  Off we plodded with our backpacks to locate our hostel in the old town.  A huge climb up through winding cobbled streets, stairs and pretty houses with window boxes.  A very friendly receptionist assisted us and then we were off for the day.

First stop, the supermarket to buy some food for lunch and snacks and then we followed the exploring suggestions from our hostel receptionist.

We walked the areas of Albaicin and Sacramonte. These areas are both in the old town region with great views to the Alhambra - the Palace on the opposite hill.  (We have tickets to see it in the morning).

We bought a multi pass giving access to a few historical sites.  The first, a Hammam (baths) with 3 temperatures of baths.

A short walk away is a site that's still being preserved but was originally a hospital, then the royal Mint, and then a public administration building.

Then to a home from the 1500's

and finishing with a Palace just inside the original city walls.

We then continued on to the Sacremonte area, famous for homes built as caves into the mountainside.  We wandered the steep winding paths with fantastic views.

We had fine weather, but breezy and cool.  We were ready for a hot chocolate and a rest before our official free Walking tour.  Our guide was knowledgeable and we walked for 2 hours finishing near the Semana  Santa Easter parades.  Tens of thousands fill the streets to support the parade.

We grabbed a bite to eat and back to the hostel to check in.

Over 20,000 steps again today and a very hilly walk with lots of steps!   We've had a fantastic day 🎉
