Copenhagen 🇩🇰

We had our pastries for brekky and headed off in 3 different directions.  Bronte to a cafe to drink coffee and chill like a local, Matty to an amazing local adventure urban park and me to the Botanic gardens complete with huge tropical glass conservatory built in the 1800's.

We then met up in the Freetown Christiania district with its quaint coloured houses along the canals and Church of our Saviour with an incredible twisted spire.

We then wandered the dockside area with modern corporate buildings, fitness equipment and views to the city.

Meatballs lunch at IKEA and then exploring the meatpacking district with cafes and restaurants as well as functioning butchers and fish mongers.

Then I had booked for us to attend a Community dinner.  I had heard about it a few months ago and it can only be booked a week out.  The community centre in an inner city area holds nightly dinners for up to 250 people, run by volunteers.  The cost was only AUD$15 each and the purpose is for locals and visitors to mingle and spend a couple of hours together in a 'family dinner', long tables type of environment.  The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming.  The food was simple and delicious and shared between each group of 8.  We sat with two local Danish women from the neighbourhood, a french woman and her son and his girlfriend who were now living here.  The 8 of us chatted and shared a meal - a memorable evening and such an incredible thing for the community and attended by all ages.  It's apparently booked out each night.  The centre offers all sorts of craft, dance and art classes, trivia nights etc.

A very relaxed day immersed into the Danish culture 😊
