Copenhagen πŸ‡©πŸ‡° to Malmo πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ͺ

Matty and I have come for a short visit to Sweden while Bronte continues exploring Copenhagen.  It's just a 40 minute train ride over the most incredible bridge to reach Malmo.  Still some fog around and so the visibility not as good as it could be across the ocean today.

We have had a wonderful day exploring this beautiful city.  When leaving the train station you can see the old town architecture.  Most houses and shops are at least 5 storeys high and there are lots of sculptures and big squares.  It's a  spacious and calm city.  Being a Sunday, many shops were closed and so it was quiet on the streets.

We dropped our bags at the quaint hostel and then headed through parklands to Malmo Castle thinking we would pop in for half an hour or so.

We had completely underestimated this simple looking castle built in the 1700's.

The castle has multiple floors and has been used originally as intended for royalty, also used as a prison in the 1800's, a museum and following WWII was used to house 2000 refugees rescued from concentration camps, and then a museum again.  It also houses an art gallery, replica rooms of the castle and the basement section is an acquarium and Natural history museum.  Over 3 hours later we emerged!

We then headed to a funky shipping container style food market for lunch.

We then walked to the modern apartment district built next to the ocean with views of the bridge.  3000 apartments built so far and plans for a further 7000 to be built.

Back to the hostel to check in and we have such a spacious room in a quiet and friendly hostel 😊. We went out for a night time wander through some.of the older buildings and pretty lights before having yummy ramen for dinner.

So special to spend a day with Matt ❤️
