Bergamo 🇮🇹 - Day 3 - 90kms

A cycle adventure to two lakes.  Lago Endine and Lago Iseo

An early start and we were off towards the sunrise and heading for the lakes today.  A few KMs down the road a group of 3 Italian cyclists were waiting to turn onto our road.  They rode behind us for a few KMs and then when safe came alongside and we found we were heading in a similar direction.  We rode with them at a fast pace for about 25kms around Lake Endine and also had a young Italian woman join us for about 15kms on her way back home from a ride and heading off to work.

We got to a junction where the men were about to head up to a steep mountain and they invited us to coffee.  Lovely kind men, similar to the wonderful ones we ride with in Brisbane.  We had little language in common but had a relaxed break together.  They insisted on paying and the cafe owner brought us girls out a chocolate each.  So lovely.

We continued on riding up the valley and then down to beautiful blue Lake Iseo.  The lake is huge and we had decided not to ride the 65kms around the whole lake but ride half along the southern side.

Stunning views, steep cliffs, blue water, tunnels to ride through, a few little villages and lots of cyclists and tourists enjoying the beauty.

We had lunch at a cafe at the end of the lake and then rode the 30kms back to the Airbnb along busy roads.

By the time we got back at lunchtime it was already 41 degrees so we opted to stay inside in the air-conditioning, watch a movie and play board games.  Carolyn Peterken made us beautiful risotto for dinner.

Another amazing day!
