Bergamo 🇮🇹 - cycling with friends day 1 - 48kms

Rental bikes delivered this morning and set up for us.  Little test rides up and down the seat.  Mine feels like a feather compared to a loaded touring bike.  It takes half a day to get used to how light, twitchy and responsive it is.

First stop was to navigate to a bike shop as a bolt sheered off on one seat when being adjusted.  A little stressful navigating streets, bike lanes etc at peak hour but we found it and the owner was helpful and got us sorted and on our way.

First part of our ride was up the steep road following the city walls. It's a popular cyclist rite of passage ride and so we decided to ride around the walls and up to the castle.  Great views from the top.

A nice panini for lunch.

A good descent and we missed our turn so had to navigate to the start of the Greenways of Bergamo route as recommended by the cycle shop.  The route followed a little river and was often shaded which provided relief on a 38 degree day.

Was good for us all to get used to our rental bikes, the traffic and the general lay of the land.

We decided with a 'feels like 40 degrees' at 6

pm to cook dinner in our air conditioned apartment and plan tomorrow's ride.

So nice to be with these inspiring women ❤️
