Beach visit 🍀

As we set off for a day at the beach, it just felt strange to be on "summer camp", 14 degrees, wetsuit in hand, surfboards and boogie boards and boarding the bus excitedly 😂

Well, it was such a fun day.  After 1.5hrs on the bus, everyone put on their wetsuits and enthusiastically ran down onto the sand.  This beach is very popular and a few surf school classes were going on already.

Now, even though it was windy, there was hardly a wave and so it was perfect for beginners to get used to the boards.

Another leader, Aaron and I took a group down to ride the "Super tanker" which is a giant board that holds 10 comfortably.  The temperature was doable with a full wetsuit and one of the leaders said the water temp was 10 degrees.  We paddled out to sea and caught some waves back, multiple times over.  We then ditched the paddles and stood to ride the waves, we threw kelp and seaweed on the kids 😂😂, they wrestled each other, dived into the waves too.  It was so much fun and after a couple of hours it was time for lunch.
Sitting out having our cold sandwiches in the breeze, I started to shiver 😳 but we ate quickly and some of the boys went back in for another hour but the rest of us played on the beach.  A soccer game and some taught me how to play "Hurling" which is a bit similar to hockey but with more of a paddle, where you bounce or balance the ball while taking steps and then toss the ball up, and hit it.  It was a friendly beach version of what apparently is quite a brutal game as you can hit and push each other in the scramble for possession 😂. A short walk along the beach to see the cliffs before we went.

We changed and headed back to camp but via "Tickety Moo" which is a Jersey cow farm that produces ice cream.  The raspberries and cream flavour was creamy and delicious and my other scoop was Bischoff 😊. We were able to go to the viewing platform to see the gorgeous cows do their thing.  They sing to them, play music, pat them and have all sorts of luxuries that they believe enhances the flavour of their product 😊

Tonight we have played some cards but everyone is pretty happy and tired.

I have been nominated as a female group leader for another group heading to the beach tomorrow!
