Isle of Mull 🇬🇧

An early start this morning, leaving our caravan park at 6am bound for Oban to catch the ferry to the Isle of Mull.

A weather change late yesterday brought high winds and some rain and fog and we were advised that our 3hr booked tour, whilst on the island had been cancelled due to the rough seas.  So, no puffin spotting or the cliffs of Staffa island.

Plan B saw us travel a circuit on the north of the island.  The narrow single lane roads weave through the green fields with views to lochs and the ocean.  We saw highland cows, sheep, rabbits, geese and goslings and lots of sea birds.

Tobermory is a colourfully painted village on a fishing cove which has been used as the setting for a Scottish children's show.  Very popular with tourists and so the gift shops, local produce shops etc rock quality products and all busy.  A fun atmosphere.

After lunch I walked a section of the Coastal path which was surprisingly tropical with ferns and wild rhoderdendron, mossy trees and views to the marina and village of Tobermory.

A short visit to the popular Mull Cheese factory and farm before heading to the car ferry.

It is such a ruggedly remote island and would be great to do the cruise and also visit the island of Iona. Especially on a fine day!
