NewhavenπŸ‡¬πŸ‡§-Dieppe πŸ‡«πŸ‡· 🚒 Dieppe - Ault πŸ‡«πŸ‡· 45kms 🚴‍♀️

Bonjour πŸ‡«πŸ‡·

After a pre 5am start, I caught the ferry with my bike to Dieppe, Normandie in France.  People had seen me boarding and I had a few come for a chat.  All cyclists of some description and had lots of questions.  4hrs later the ferry docked into France.
White cliffs at Newhaven and white cliffs to welcome me to France.

Me and my bike were escorted up the ramp and told to queue up with the cars to go through passport control.   Then my European adventure began.

The skies literally opened up and it started to rain πŸ˜‚ and so less than 1km along my route I was pulled over retrieving my waterproof pants. Then up a long hill leaving the pretty port town of Dieppe behind.
My route followed the Normandie coast north with stunning coastal views from the clifftops.  After the grey English waters, i didn't expect the ocean to be such a beautiful aquamarine colour.

A very hilly route as the roads drop down to seaside villages and then back up to the clifftops again.
I stopped at a War memorial statue.

I have finished in a sleepy town with an eclectic mix of architecture and the widest long beach and views back to the white cliffs.  From what I can see, I think I've left the hills behind for now.

Today it only rained for 5kms but the headwind has been fierce.  I chatted with a French tourer heading south and he said he felt sorry for me.  A British road cyclist called out to turn around and make my life easier πŸ˜‚

I arrived at the campground 15 mins after they closed πŸ™„. I have set up my tent, found that the showers were opened and will pay in the morning.  Just 3 caravans and 2 motorhomes. Its dropping to 5 degrees tonight but it's the wind chill that's the killer.  Shops closed on a Sunday and so
went to the "Fritterie" van beside the sea for some hot chips and just had avocado on crackers with it for dinner.  A long day but I'm excited to be in France πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰
