Bruton πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ 25km 🚴‍♀️

After a bit of a lie in, I took the doggies for a walk. Breezy but no rain todayπŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

I chatted with family for a while and then headed off after lunch for a ride. Bruton is a pretty town nestled in the hills and the views along the route are always a reward when it's hilly. Lots of cows in the green fields 😊

The limestone Bruton dovecote, was thought to have been built with the Augustine Abbey in the 15th century and also used as a lookout tower. Dovecotes were seen as a status symbol and lured doves to nest in the nooks and then the eggs were eaten and also the birds! Their feathers were used too. Beautiful views to the township of Bruton and to the surrounding hills.

Then off to visit Hauser & Wirth of Somerset. This very stylishly renovated series of listed barns house a contemporary art gallery, gardens with sculptures, workshop space and a high quality farm shop. I spent an hour or so wandering through the gallery and grounds and treated myself to a piece of Lemon sponge cake ❤️. Hauser & Wirth have galleries in Europe, Asia and America and it definitely had an international quality about it.

Back home, cycling over the hills and whilst there were dark clouds, avoided rain!

Another delightful day in the Somerset region and now settled in on the lounge with doggies asleep either side 😊
