Greenwich 🇬🇧

Today we ventured to Greenwich to see the Royal Maritime museum.  We completely underestimated how fantastic this series of museums would be and so only scratched the surface of what they had to offer.

Then a walk up the hill to the Meridian Line - Greenwich mean time GMT) where we were able to stand with one foot in the eastern hemisphere and one in the western hemisphere!  There are a range of time instruments that have been and are used to measure time today.

Then to the Royal Observatory and climbed the steps to view the huge Equatorial telescope, which is aligned with the earth's axis.

The Cutty Sark ship is permanently exhibited at the Greenwich docks.  It was the fastest ship in its day and used to transport wool from Australia to England.

We spent the afternoon with a day in the life of Kim 15years ago when she lived and worked in London as a teacher.  We visited the townhouse where she rented a room, caught the same train and bus route to her school, walked through the park she used to have her Bagel, the bagel shop etc.  I loved putting images to the stories I listened to back then, and for Kim to revisit.

We walked through Victoria Park on a balmy 16 degree afternoon and caught the underground to West End where we had secured last minute discounted tickets to see 'Sister Act' the musical.  We had dinner at a bustling food arcade.

"Sister Act" was fabulous.  The lead singer very talented, lots of laughs and energy.

Fabulous day!
